Hannah, her partner Carl and mum Sharon along with friends and family have been busy raising funds for East Kent Sands in memory of baby Jessica. In July 2018 Hannah, Sharon and friends and family undertook a gruelling 12.5 mile walk around Bewl water and in September Carl and a group of courageous lads will be taking on the tough mudder event Not to be outdone, Sharon is planning a sky dive later in the year!
Hannah and her team are hoping to raise £15,000 to help other bereaved parents whilst raising awareness about this taboo subject. So far they have raised well over £11,000 for us!
The money raised will go towards bereavement training for midwives and other staff, support for bereaved parents and a special keepsake for every parent in East Kent who is affected by neonatal deaths or stillborn. A Heart in Hand key ring will be given alongside the memory box. In this key ring is a silver heart which can be taken out and placed in the hand of the baby and stay with them, the parents then keep the other half.
We are so grateful to Hannah and her fantastic team for their hard work so far and are so impressed with all the other events they are planning. The money they raise will go a very long way in helping East Kent Sands charity volunteers support other families and raise awareness of baby loss.
